Mentoring: An Alternative to the Peter Principle
“Managers rise to the level of their incompetence.” Laurence J. Peter :
The Peter Principle is alive and well in every sort of organization: Government, Military, Business and with Entrepreneurs.
Ironically, even those who know that the next level up is not right for them are either forced to reach their level of incompetence or have to leave. It is a lose-lose proposition at its worst.
Assigning them a role as a mentor (Trainer, etc.) is an absolutely fantastic win-win. They get to do what they are passionate about and with people they relate to. The organization also gets them out of the mainstream and unclogs the upward flow of the system.
