Lesson from the Chinese Bamboo Tree

You have heard about the Chinese bamboo tree. This tree doesn’t break through the ground for the first four years. The farmer has to tend and fertilize it for a very long period while seeing no results. Then, in a period of just five weeks, it can grow to a height of 90 feet. It is an overnight phenomenon.

Your well made point is that life often works in a similar way. You can work for weeks, months and even years on your venture with no visible signs of progress and then, you may become an overnight success.

Many successful entrepreneurs, like Henry Ford, had to water their bamboo trees through many business failures before finally succeeding with the Ford Motor Company.

Patience and perseverance are not traits generally associated with an entrepreneur. And yes, not all seeds sprout into trees.
